ME! Jess.
To come straight out with the truth, I never intended to do this as a job.
See, I’m obsessed with music performance. I grew up in my late teens touring with badass Australian icons like Kate Ceberano and later, Vanessa Amorosi as a professional backing vocalist. Throughout, I’ve sung at night clubs, basketball arenas doing the National Anthem, writing pop songs for other artists and realising music myself which has been pretty bloody cool. And I continue to do all of that to this day.
So I never went to school for Marketing. But I got to study it in the real world. The Social Media/Marketing life just kind of fell into my lap one day about 7 years ago when I was doing a casual job at a friend’s beauty supply business run in her garage.
I finished all my tasks one day, and my boss mentioned I should probably start posting on their social accounts to fill the time in and perhaps it would help get more customers.
Well, long story short, I did. And throughout the 4 years of doing this, learning and trailing all sorts of wild and boring ideas, the business grew in a multimillion-dollar empire and dominating all other Australian supplier’s in their industry. That was my education in a way. And it was so much fun figuring it all out!
The music life got busier, and I struggled maintaining the normal 9-5 work life as I was on the road quite a bit.
Covid hit and put a giant spanner in the music industry, but also gave me some breathing space to work out how I could do Marketing as a Freelancer.
My client list grew and grew, and I have since gotten much more clearer on what my strengths are within the giant Marketing ocean of expertise and the kind of brands I know I can help.
What do we focus on?
Getting service-based brands well known in their industry through Social Media management, consulting and education.
If there’s anything that will stick with me until the end, it’s that I believe that LIFE IS COMMUNICATION. Or vice-versa. I know, it’s so common sense and cliche, it probably makes you want to slap me in the face.
But very often, we’re too scared put ourself, our brand out there. But that’s where people are. OUT THERE!!! And so I LOVE helping business owners and their brands figure out how to get out there, online and reach a stranger who is in need of their service.
Because we have the internet now! We can achieve this much more than 20 years ago!
Where did the name ‘Fang It’ come from?
Fang it" (verb/slang); A badass way to say "go for it" or "just do it" and take action, be bold, and confidently pursue success in any field that you desire!
Example; Janet finally decided to Fang It on her social media now her posts are so fire even her grandma's following her!
The term 'Fang-It!' was a phrase Australian singer, Kate Ceberano would regularly call out on stage when it was her musicians time to solo on guitar, drums, piano, etc.
Watching the pure sweat and happiness beam from their faces, with the rest of the band in full support and the audience in awe of the magic bursting out of this one individual, I realised show after show, the success and fun of something comes from just totally GOING for it...aka 'FANGIN' IT!'
